“Scrapbooks for preschoolers”
Around age 3 kids start to love creating their own ‘treasures.’ One great way to encourage this is to help them start a scrapbook. OK, not the traditional fancy scrapbook. But you can find cheep and cute three ring binders and add a bunch of cardstock that has been three hole punched. If you use colored cardstock it is a great background. Kids can add pictures of important events, draw pictures of people or pets. Then add stickers, bits of ribbon, wrapping paper, water colors anything you can think of really to help express themselves. Also if you use flour and water mixed for a thin paste, then it is very cleanable, non-toxic, and lasts for years!
The great thing about this project is it gives kids a way to journal before they can write and help to keep them out of your photo albums or more expensive scrapbooking stuff if you are scrap-a-holic like many people. If you use a three ring binder you can add paper as you need, or take out past ‘books’ and have them bound at most office supply stores. It serves as a great tool to keep all the artwork from your kids organized and is fun to look through years later.
